The procedure
Relief, Shape and Proportion
Breast reduction, medically known as reduction mammaplasty, reduces excessive breast size and weight while improving shape, position and proportion. Disproportionately large breasts, a condition often called macromastia, can contribute to neck, shoulder and back discomfort, deep bra strap grooves, irritation beneath the breasts and difficulty exercising comfortably.
Because large breasts frequently develop sagging as skin and supporting tissue stretch under their weight, reduction usually incorporates a breast lift. Dr. Leandro Junqueira removes the appropriate amount of tissue, fat and skin while reshaping what remains and repositioning the nipple areola complex, so the breast is reconstructed into a lighter, higher and more proportionate shape rather than simply made smaller.
Why patients choose it
Relieve Physical Strain
Easing neck, shoulder and back discomfort associated with heavy breasts.
Improve Posture and Comfort
Reducing bra strap grooving and irritation beneath the breast fold.
Lift and Reshape
Correcting sagging and repositioning a low nipple areola complex as part of the same surgery.
Correct Asymmetry
Removing different volumes from each side when natural asymmetry needs to be balanced.
Internal Support
Internal Bra techniques used selectively to reinforce the newly shaped breast from within.
Comfortable Movement
Making exercise and daily physical activity noticeably more comfortable.
Your journey
From consultation to result
-
01
Consultation
A detailed assessment of breast volume, symptoms, skin quality and tissue distribution to shape your plan.
-
02
Planning
Determining the appropriate amount of tissue to remove and the incision pattern best suited to your anatomy.
-
03
Surgery
A precise, three to four hour procedure under general anaesthesia in an accredited facility.
-
04
Recovery
Guided aftercare in a wire free support bra as swelling settles and the breast progressively softens.
Incision Options
Incision selection depends on breast size, degree of sagging, amount of excess skin and the extent of reshaping required. No pattern is universally superior.
Vertical (Lollipop)
The incision extends from the areola down to the breast crease, suited to a moderate reduction with a manageable amount of excess skin.
L-Shape (Short-Scar)
Extends the vertical incision with a short horizontal component toward the outer crease for additional skin removal.
Anchor (Inverted-T)
Combines a vertical and horizontal incision along the fold, providing the greatest ability to reduce and reshape more significant volume.

Breast Reduction FAQ
There is no ideal number of grams for every patient. The appropriate reduction depends on your existing volume, breast base, tissue quality, body frame and desired final proportions, discussed in detail during consultation.
Reshaping the breast and repositioning the nipple can change sensation, sometimes temporarily and sometimes permanently, and it may also affect future breastfeeding. If this is a concern, discuss it with Dr. Leandro so it factors into your surgical plan.
In the majority of breast reduction patients, no. There is already significant natural tissue available for reshaping, which Dr. Leandro strategically redistributes to create a firm, proportionate contour.
Scars are positioned around the areola, vertically beneath the breast and, when required, within the natural crease so they can generally be concealed beneath bras and swimwear. They soften and fade over roughly twelve months.
Light walking is encouraged early on. Most patients return to light daily activity within one to two weeks, with a gradual return to full exercise, particularly upper body training, around six to eight weeks with medical clearance.
