The procedure

Correcting Breast Ptosis with Precision

A breast lift, medically known as mastopexy, corrects breast ptosis by reshaping and repositioning the breast higher on the chest. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations, ageing, genetics and skin quality can all cause the breast to descend, the upper breast to appear deflated, excess skin to develop, and the nipple areola complex to move lower or point downward.

Modern mastopexy is not simply about tightening skin. Dr. Leandro Junqueira evaluates breast tissue distribution, degree of ptosis, nipple position, volume, width, skin elasticity, asymmetry and the inframammary fold to rebuild shape, position and support while preserving your natural proportion.

Why patients choose it

01

Lift Sagging Breasts

Correcting descent and restoring a firmer, more youthful position on the chest.

02

Reposition the Nipple

Raising a low or downward pointing nipple areola complex to a more natural placement.

03

Reshape Natural Tissue

Redistributing your own breast tissue to create projection, often without an implant.

04

Correct Asymmetry

Each breast planned independently to improve overall balance between the two sides.

05

Internal Support

Internal Bra techniques used selectively to reinforce the newly shaped breast from within.

06

Restore Post Pregnancy Contour

Addressing the changes left behind by pregnancy, breastfeeding or significant weight loss.

Your journey

From consultation to result

  1. 01

    Consultation

A detailed assessment of breast volume, skin quality, ptosis and nipple position to shape your plan.

  2. 02

    Planning

Choosing incision pattern, tissue reshaping and whether additional volume or an internal bra is needed.

  3. 03

    Surgery

A precise, two to three hour procedure under general anaesthesia in an accredited facility.

  4. 04

    Recovery

Guided aftercare in a wire free support bra as swelling settles and the breast progressively softens.

Incision Options

The right incision depends on the degree of ptosis, the amount of excess skin, nipple position and the extent of reshaping required. No pattern is universally superior.

Periareolar

The incision sits around the border of the areola, suited to patients requiring relatively minor correction.

Vertical (Lollipop)

The incision extends from the areola down to the breast crease, allowing more skin removal and reshaping for moderate ptosis.

L-Shape (Short-Scar)

Extends the vertical incision with a short horizontal component along the outer crease, limiting overall scar length where anatomy allows.

Anchor (Inverted-T)

Combines a vertical and horizontal incision along the fold, providing the greatest reshaping ability for more significant ptosis.

Breast Lift FAQ

Not necessarily. When enough natural breast tissue is present, Dr. Leandro can redistribute and reshape it to create projection without adding an implant. When volume loss is also significant, a lift can be combined with an implant or, in selected patients, fat transfer.

Any lift that removes excess skin will leave a permanent scar. The goal is to use the least extensive incision capable of achieving the correction and to close it meticulously. Scars typically start pink or firm and progressively soften and fade over about twelve months.

Reshaping the breast and repositioning the nipple can temporarily change sensation as the tissue heals, and permanent changes are possible. The effect on breastfeeding depends on the technique used and your individual anatomy, so discuss future plans with Dr. Leandro during consultation.

A breast lift creates a lasting improvement in shape and position, but no technique can permanently stop the natural effects of ageing, gravity, pregnancy or significant weight change over time.

A breast lift corrects sagging and reshapes existing tissue while generally preserving volume. A breast reduction also removes a significant amount of breast tissue to reduce size and weight. The right procedure depends on your anatomy and goals.
